Counseling

Getting Started

Beginning counseling can feel daunting, especially in the midst of grief. A consultation offers a low‑pressure way to ask questions, share what’s bringing you here, and see whether this feels like a good fit.

Counseling and Energy Healing

Some clients choose to engage in counseling alone. Others integrate counseling with optional, complementary energy‑based practices offered separately through Collecting Hope.

Counseling services are always provided within the scope of licensed clinical social work. Energy healing, when chosen, is non‑clinical and does not replace mental health care.

We can talk together about what feels most supportive for you.

Private Counseling Session

Grief, loss, and major life transitions can disrupt your sense of stability, identity, and meaning. Even when you’re functioning on the outside, something inside may feel fractured, heavy, or uncertain.

Counseling at Collecting Hope offers a supportive space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and feel less alone as you navigate these changes.

What Counseling Looks Like Here

Counseling is provided on a one‑on‑one basis by Anna Long‑Stokes, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist.

Our work together may include:

  • Exploring the emotional landscape of grief and loss

  • Making meaning of identity shifts and life transitions

  • Supporting nervous system regulation during stress or overwhelm

  • Addressing feelings of confusion, guilt, anger, or hopelessness

  • Creating space for grief without pressure to “move on”

Sessions are collaborative, paced, and guided by your needs. There is no expectation to reach insight quickly or to feel better on a specific timeline.

Who This Counseling Is For

Counseling may be especially supportive if you are:

  • Grieving the death of a loved one

  • Experiencing anticipatory grief or caregiving‑related loss

  • Navigating divorce, separation, or relational upheaval

  • Adjusting to health changes, role loss, or identity shifts

  • Feeling unmoored during a major life transition

  • Carrying cumulative or long‑standing grief

You do not need to be in crisis to begin counseling. Many people seek support simply because something no longer feels settled or whole.

Our Approach

Counseling at Collecting Hope is grounded in compassion, clinical training, and respect for the complexity of grief. We do not attempt to eliminate grief, problem‑solve it away, or rush healing.

Instead, we focus on:

  • Presence rather than pressure

  • Understanding rather than fixing

  • Meaning rather than closure

Grief is not something to be completed — it is something to be lived alongside. Counseling offers support in learning how to carry it with more steadiness and self‑understanding.

Insurance & Rates

Collecting Hope currently accepts the following insurance plans for counseling services:

  • Regence / Blue Cross

  • Providence

  • PacificSource

  • First Choice

  • Moda (coming soon)

  • Lira EAP

If your insurance plan is not listed, you may still have out‑of‑network mental health benefits. Upon request, I can provide a monthly superbill (a detailed statement of services rendered and payments received) for you to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

Insurance reimbursement varies widely by plan. Clients are responsible for:

  • Verifying mental health benefits

  • Determining out‑of‑network coverage

  • Understanding reimbursement rates and requirements

I’m happy to answer general questions, though coverage determinations ultimately rest with your insurance provider.

Session Rate

  • $175-$225 (sliding scale) per 50‑minute counseling session

(Energy healing services are private‑pay only and are not eligible for insurance reimbursement.)

Late Cancellation Policy

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a $135 late cancellation fee. This policy helps ensure availability and fairness in scheduling, especially given the nature of grief‑centered work.
